Great alfhwa 2007-11-26 8:01

This is a great shot! One can see the abundance of marine life around the plane, but for some reason the plane it's not yet covered... maybe it takes more than 50 years to develop that. The diver in the photo is well placed, and I liked the timing you decided to take the shot, with all the bubbles coming out of him/her. Unfortunately there's some graininess effect through the picture, otherwise I would suggest adjusting the picture to be a bit more sharp. Great job! Thanks for sharing.

Hello again, Alfredo,

I'm glad you enjoy this photo. The bubbles? Well, that's just a little luck, really. But it does help. The "grain" you see is the level of visibility (or "vis" as we divers say)in the water column, meaning suspended particles. There's nothing you can do about that, and trying to sharpen it in Photoshop just makes the photo pixilate and get rough. This shot was done in a channel, so you have water moving in and out quite a bit. That makes visibility reduced. The solution is to get closer to the subject and use twin strobes to reduce an underwater phenomena called "backscatter" -- again, floating particles in the water. Anyway, it's never easy underwater!
