i have always been a great fan of the letterbox format Mike - and i really like the distance this gives you between your subject and the paintings - given that i know the humour of Beryl's work there is an amusing take here of someone who appears to be a 'serious' art lover taking a 'serious' look at her work - from being a bit of a populist joke in the art world she has become more popular in it in many ways.....but i bet she has laughed all the way to the bank too......don't have any time for any snootiness about what she does - it's great self taught skill and observation as far as I'm concerned.....

I think the photograph is let down a little by the figure in the background - a 'clean' take would have had more impact - although now i am imagining it might be the attendant who is being masked by the woman.....but still photographically it makes this one a 'good' as 'opposed to 'excellent' image for me (or whatever it is these green smiley things are meant to mean!

best wishes Kev

Thanks for the comments. As I said in the notes bit the anti photo police were on patrol so I had to take it from the waist while looking the other way. That it came out at all was a bit of luck.
I agree I like agressive cropping.
Sadly, she(Beryl, not the lady in the photo) is now dead but her pictures are wonderful.
All the best
