Photographer's Note
An exhibit of Pharoah (King) Tuthmose III taken inside the Luxor Historic Museum using available light and no flash. I've given the eye a little more contrast in photoshop with a darker pupil/iris and a lighter sclera. Originally they were both yellow. From Wikipedia:
"Tuthmose III was the sixth pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty. During the first 22 years of Thutmose's reign, he was co-regent with his stepmother and aunt, Hatshepsut, who was named the pharaoh. While he was shown first on surviving monuments, both were assigned the usual royal names and insignia and neither is given any obvious seniority over the other.[3] He served as the head of her armies.
After the death of Hatshepsut and Thutmosis III's later rise to pharaoh of the kingdom, he created the largest empire Egypt had ever seen; no fewer than 17 campaigns were conducted and he conquered from Niya in North Syria to the Fourth Cataract of the Nile in Nubia.
Officially, Thutmose III ruled Egypt for almost 54 years and his reign is usually dated from April 24, 1479 BC to March 11, 1425 BC; however, this includes the 22 years he was co-regent with Hatshepsut. During the final two years of his reign, he appointed his son and successor, Amenhotep II, as his junior co-regent. His firstborn son and heir to the throne, Amenemhat, predeceased Thutmose III. When Thutmose III died, he was buried in the Valley of the Kings, as were the rest of the kings from this period in Egypt."
Luxor Museum is a must see & almost as good as the Cairo Museum. In some ways better, as it is without the crowds. I've cropped the piece at right as it was jagged and broken and did not contribute to the main section at left.

He is wearing an 'atef' crown. Had to look that up too!
"Atef is the specific feathered white crown of the Egyptian deity Osiris. It combines the Hedjet, the crown of Upper Egypt, with curly red ostrich feathers on each side of the crown for the Osiris cult." (Wikipedia)

Hello Chris,
I like how the light shows the unevenness of the painted slab. The effect is definitely 3D. It's a fantastic work of art and the light processing of the eye probably made an improvement of the image.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Chris
Always fascinating to admire ancient Egyptian art. It always amazes me how beautifully styled these objects are designed. Here you can nicely discover a certain relationship with art deco.
Nicely displayed.
Have a good week, groet Rob

Hello Chris,
There has been interest in Egyptology for centuries!
What a pity that thieves were unafraid of pillaging the tombs or we would have been able to see even more about this amazing time in Egypt's history.
You have shown us an excellent photograph of this plaque taken from inside the museum. The 3D effect is very well captured; the textures and the colours are also of a high standard.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Chris,
It must be an unforgottable experience to see such ancient artworks very near the place they were originally buried, and much later found. Simply amazing. And your shot is very clear. Sidelight shows 3D details perfectly.
