Photographer's Note

One more photo from Pamplemousses Botanical Garden in Mauritius. I really liked the shape of this gigantic leaf ...

Founded in the 18th century, the beautiful Pamplemousses Botanical Garden houses an incredible variety of tropical plants, many of them indigenous.

While the garden is most famous for its giant water lilies VICTORIA AMAZONICA (on the picture), the garden features spices, ebonies, sugar canes as well as 85 varieties of palms from Central America, Asia, Africa and the islands around the Indian Ocean. Many trees have been planted by world leaders and royalty, including Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, Indira Gandhi, Fran輟is Mitterrand and Robert Mugabe.
