Photographer's Note

Taken in poverty ridden downtown Phnom Penh, when I was accosted by these street kids who wanted me to take their photo. It was great fun though, when they saw the photo on the back of the camera. I didn't give them any money as the adults only take it off them, bought packets of biscuits instead and spent some time with them to be sure they ate them.

It's just a shame that the wealth of the high societies living in comfort within stone's throw hasn't filtered through to this slum district and there's no end of contrasts in this city, both sides of the coin co-exists side by side here.

Indeed sad to see bitter facts of life but unfortunately not much you can do about the situation.
They made me smile. They had so little but maintain happiness.

Let's hope things change in the future.
