Photographer's Note

Finally, only part of the roofs of the immense imperial city which extends on 74 hectares. A succession of palaces, halls and courtyards, an ensemble protected by defensive ramparts.
A total of 800 buildings and 900 rooms, a construction that required 14 years of work (1406-1420) and some 1 million workers. An architectural ensemble built during the Ming Dynasty period.
The photo was taken from a high point of view located north of the Forbidden City, Coal Hill, a park and a hill consisting of a pile of debris from the construction site and especially moats surrounding the City.
