Dreaming, a photo from Sinuiju, North

Photographer's Note

The picture is taken from international waters, but this is the North Korean side. It is actually really sad to see these people. At the Chinese side it is like an attraction, watching North Koreans. The other side is quite empty like an old port city.
I choose this picture to share because of the dreaming state of the 2 people. Looking to the Chinese side and they will always be wandering for the rest of there lives how it would be like.
Very sad situation.

Nice moment you captured here. As Maciek said, the man does seem to sit in the basket from this perspective. Both seemed to be in complete trance.

Yes, Etienne, thank you for your note. they even look like strangers to each other and the woman disposes of her clothes in a way she does not really have to care about her appearance or any coquetry, people are merely fodder for propaganda and individualism is most likley severely reprimanded for the common folks.
Thanks, you deserve a lot more mention for your pix. I am glad i was intrigued by the presence of a N.K folder on TE and opened it up.

This is indeed a very interesting picture. I agree with previous comments but would add that it looks as if these people are literally standing at the limits of their world. They are on the edge and the woman is gazing at a world unknown to her. There is also a certain stiffness to their body language.

Daily life picture with people from the whole world are very nice.
Here, it's well composed : on the 1/3 left the woman, on the 1/3 right the guy.
Your comment gives a good addition to the photo.

I have seen pictures made on the same river. Most of them were establishing shots; which were good to show the different scenes between the two countries. But this picture is not only showing the difference of scenery, but also the feeling of people, which makes the situation more impressive!
