St. Catherine's Church, P舐nu (Estonian: Katariina kirik) is a Russian Orthodox church in P舐nu, Estonia.

The church was built in 1764-1768 and named after the empress, Catherine the Great, who presented the church to the city after a visit in 1764. It is built in a baroque style by architect P. Jegorov, and has been a source of inspiration for subsequent orthodox church architecture in the Baltic states. It displays a large central dome with a lantern, flanked by four smaller turrets and a western tower with a needle-pointed spire. The fa軋de is rather lavishly decorated, divided by pediments and cornices. Inside, the iconostasis, also by Jegorov, is noteworthy( from Wiki)

P舐nu is famous for its spas, shallow white sandy beach and beautiful parks. It is also a popular place for conferences, theatre performances and concerts. In 1838 the first spa was opened and nowadays P舐nu is a health resort of international stature.

Since 1996 P舐nu has been known as Estonia's Summer Capital. Beach life, dozens of festivals, night clubs, big party crowds, concerts and funfairs - P舐nu has it all.

Hello Piotr,
A great photo of this church and its many towers and turrets, their greenish colour looks great against the blue sky and also the bright sunlight was wonderful. Great work.

Hello Piotr,
It's a good close view of the rather intricately designed towers and the many turrets. I was in P舐nu but I don't remember what the main body of this church looked like. I think you made a good decision to focus entirely on the roof and towers, which rise so nicely against the blue sky. It's a superbly clear and well exposed photo.

Piotr, the photo illustrates a common architectural style found in the Baltic states. The Orthodox church has a large central dome, a tower with a spire and small turrets. Ravishing green and white painting. Magnificent blue sky.
