Towers and a balloon, a photo from Harjumaa, West

Photographer's Note

From the hill area of Toompea in Tallinn you get good views over the old town including this one showing towers along the walls, the inevitable cruise ships and a surprise in the sky - a hot air balloon. I did notice however that the balloon appears to be tethered to one of the cruise ships but you'll need to look at the high resolution version to see the tether.
In Tallinn, as in many cruise ship destinations, it is best to do your wandering early or late.

Hi Ian,i remember well this view from the hill and the balloon too,not far by my hotel where i been there.A lovely view of the old city,red roofs and the bay too,with the cruise starting probably its trip to Helsinki. Lovely capture very sharp everywhere! Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ian,

You have managed a really good shot over the roofs of Tallinn, showing the many and varied pointed shapes. The terracotta colours make it look a warm and welcoming place.
The hot air balloon is a very good addition, emphasising the elevation and helping to create a fine sense of depth.

Hello Ian,

Yep, I went to the same lookout. There is even a Viking passenger liner in port which is how I entered Tallinn from Helsinki. The balloon is directly over it. Tfs!

seems like Estonia has many postcard type of views, or at least from the TE posts we see. Yet i never ever think of Estonia being a place to travel to. love the old smoke stack in the middle of the frame, seems so out of place, but in a good way haha. A very pretty photo. cheers
