Photographer's Note

The Luxembourg Palace was built for Marie de Medicis in the years 1615-1627. The gardens surrounding the palace have 23 hectares of sprawling lawns and abundant flowers. Everyone, young and old, can enjoy themselves in the gardens. Children can rent boats and sail in the ponds, while elders play chess under awnings. There are also pony rides and puppet shows.

In 1988, I visited Paris for a week and everyday I spent a few hours relaxing in these gardens, which were near my hotel. It was lovely to just sit under a huge old chestnut tree, read a book and watch life go by.
