Photographer's Note

On our way to Easter Island, we (my family and I) spent a full day in Tahiti last November. Having less than 24 hours to kill, the tour of the island was a must do. Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side and we got lots of rain! It is a beautiful island with black sand beaches. Yes, black sand, since Tahiti is a volcanic island. Its capital city, Papeete, is home for some world class resorts but do not expect white sandy beaches!

A must see place in Tahiti is the Gaugin Museum, even if there is not a single Gaugin痴 original painting. But his life in the Society Island is very well explained and documented.

For the location, Tahiti is part of Oceania and about 16 deg S of the Equator. In other words, it is at 5 hours flight from Auckland (NZ) and another 5 hours flight to Easter Island. So, lots of flying time to get in and out.

We had a really great time during our short stay.
