Photographer's Note

The Larissa Castle towers over the town of Argos. It was built by the Byzantines and completed by the Franks in the 14th century, later to be taken by the Venetians and the Turks.

I suppose it is because of the Frankish input that our visit there took me right back to childhood, when my brother and I explored a similar ruined castle in Southern Bohemia.

If you are in Argos, definitely drive up to the kastro, the views of the plain of Argolis are more than worth it. Plus if you go in the spring, you will be surrounded by a sea of flowers inside the castle walls.
