Photographer's Note

This Macedonian Bell 205 (UH-1H Huey) helicopter is seen at Petrovec Air Force base during the celebration of the 13th anniversary of the Macedonian Air Force. You can not imagine what this helicopter can do if you give it in the hands of right people... Amazing flight display!!!

The Bell Huey was the first mass-produced helicopter powered by a jet turbine. Official name of the UH-1 series is the Iroquois. But its unofficial name, Huey, became so commonly used when the AH-1 attack version was officially named the Huey Cobra. With its distinctive "whomp-whomp" sound that could be heard miles away, the UH/AH-1 aircraft have totaled more than 27 million flight hours since Oct. 20, 1956 when the "granddaddy" of all H-1's, the XH-40, made its first flight. Since then, more than 16,000 H-1 helicopters have been produced by Bell Helicopter and its licensees - making it one of the most successful military aircraft in aviation history!

Macedonia owns two Hueys that have been donated by Greece in 2001 and they are widely used in a transport, airborne battlefield command and control, troop insertion/extraction, fire support coordination, medical evacuation, search and rescue, armed escort/visual reconnaissance or utility roles.
