Photographer's Note

This image is of a little cascade on Aira Beck, although it is the bigger falls, Aira Force, that draws thousands of visitors each year. Aira Force is on National Trust land close to the Lake District痴 second largest lake, Ullswater. The road A592 runs almost the entire length of the lake from Pooley Bridge to Patterdale. (You壇 never guess it痴 an A road as it痴 quite narrow and windy.) The car park for Aira Force is just off that road. The signpost is not very obvious, so keep a look out for it. If you池e a National Trust member like we are you can park free, otherwise 善ay & Display!

After the uphill walk to Aira Force itself, the path continues uphill, following the route of Aira Beck. All along the path there are viewpoints of pretty little cascades like this one. (Here痴 my photo I took of Aira Force itself in the winter, some time ago.)

Bev Robinson (Royaldevon) and I had arranged to meet at Aira Force car park, with our husbands. Our journey was 2 hours from the east and Bev & Len痴 journey was 2 hours from the west, so we met in the middle. Funnily enough, Len had worked out that we were probably about 2 hours away from each other too. We hadn稚 met before, but we got on really well and had a great day out. Good company and good weather combined to make a memorable outing, which we hope to repeat in the not too distant future. Thanks Bev & Len for an excellent day out.

Bev has posted an image she took nearby here
