Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

This magnificent bronze statue of The Duke of Wellington mounted on a rearing horse was sculpted by Sir John Steel (1804 - 1891) and was erected outside Register House, Edinburgh in 1852.

Please click this link to see the much bigger, clearer Beta version.

The Duke himself was so pleased that he commissioned two further versions of the sculpture, one for his home, Apsley House and the other for Eton London.

I really liked this statue, myself but don't think my garden is large enough to commission another replica!!

I was concerned that the b/g buildings might take attention away from the statue and tried the scene in b&w. I did like the alternative but, on the whole, preferred this version.

I will post the b&w photograph for your interest.

I have cropped this photograph and corrected the lens distortion.

Have a great day. The weather is brighter here, in Lancashire, today. Bev :-)
