Photographer's Note

Why do we shout Gerinomo on when launching into space. A film ? A book ?
( I just checked ! Geronimo : exclamation used to express exhilaration, esp. when leaping from a great height or moving at a high speed. ORIGIN World War II: adopted as a slogan by American paratroopers. )

On my way to the coast for the day, I chose to cross the historic Transporter Bridge on the way, the lowest crossing point for the River Tees. Alas, it was bungee jumping day, and I had to retrace my steps.

But it offered me a happy half hour watching normally sensible human beings launch themselves into space, probably shouting - 'Geromimo ! '.

The bridge is a local landmark, and can be seen from miles around.

There are two alternate views in WS here and here.
