Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (brand name Kew) is a non-departmental public body in the United Kingdom sponsored by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. An internationally important botanical research and education institution, it employs 723 staff (FTE). Its board of trustees is chaired by Marcus Agius,a former chairman of Barclays.

The organisation manages botanic gardens at Kew in Richmond upon Thames in southwest London, and at Wakehurst Place, a National Trust property in Sussex which is home to an internationally important Millennium Seed Bank, whose scientists work with partner organisations in more than 95 countries.Seed stored at the bank fulfils two functions: it provides an ex-situ conservation resource and also facilitates research around the globe by acting as a repository for seed scientists. Kew, jointly with the Forestry Commission, founded Bedgebury National Pinetum in Kent, specialising in growing conifers.

The organisation has an average of 1 million paying visitors per year. Its 326-acre site at Kew has 40 historically important buildings and collections of over 40,000 species of plants and it became a United Nations World Heritage Site on 3 July 2003.

Fantastic winter daylight brought out best of colors, Danos.
the place is attractive and has lot's of charming corners. Beautiful sight, red flowers stand out in fine manner. Big bird, probably a cormorant, was flying above at time taken the picture, a nice bonus collected.

Hello Danos,
Between the blue sky and the blue reflected in the pond the vivid colours of the plants and the foliage of the trees provide an amazing view.
The ducks are nicely spread over the water.
This doesn't look like a winter day but rather like one of the better days in autumn.

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the trees and of the building. The light is giving good colros rendering. Have a nice day.

A wonderful snap shot for a tiny and charming garden.
The propeotrion of the pond is so touchy, small but colorful flowers are so attracive and eye-cathing!

A tempting glimpse of the Gardens - the composition is superb along with wonderful reflections, vibrant colours, very controlled exposure with truck loads of detail. "Dotted whites" is indeed an extra bonus though small but hard to ignore with their striking contrast. Lovely shot, Congrats

Another wonderful shot from Kew Gardens, with fantastic reflections and nice Autumn colours of gold still managing to hold on in he first few weeks of winter. Good color saturation and repetition of the birds. Tfs!

Hello Danos,
The building is nice but this photo is nearly all about fantastic colours, light and reflections. The birds are also important for the atmosphere; those swimming in the pond as well as the big one in the air. The rather pale light indicates winter, but the day is as beautiful as any day at the hight of summer.

Hello Danos,

Another fine scene from Kew Gardens.
I like how the building is set off-centre, this time creating more importance to the lake and its colourful reflections.
There are some lovely, warm colours in the lakeside vegetation, more common in autumn.

Hello Danos, One more picture from fantastic Kew Gardens. It is a heaven for someone who is interested in plants, and specially trees. Nice view of this small lake with a fountain. Lovely reflections. I like specially this part under the tree with the colourful shrubs, I do not know what they are.

I have of course heard about these amazing gardens but never had a chance to visit.
Beautiful picture with the view across the pond so eye catching.

nice view of the lake, the rich house and the nature around. I liked the lower light enhancing the colors of the beginning of the winter. nice inclusion of the bird flying.
