The view from Fryup, a photo from North Yorkshire, England

Photographer's Note

Today steven and I went driving through the Yorkshiremoors and we decided at one point we are going to turn down the next right so we did and ended up on a road not yet travled.. but us... and found a small little town called Fryup haha it made me laugh because it was all farm land.. and lots of cows :( anyways... this was the view when we decided to stop.. and i thought i would share it with all you... a small corner of the Yorkshire Moors!

Rob regards Fryup Dale as "his" special place, so I think we will be returning there shortly. I can see the heather on the distant moor-top.
A well-lit scene with interesting shadows.
As for composition, you do have a strong diagonal with the row of trees; a slightly improved composition would have been achieved if you had moved round so the fence as the first line was a stronger diagonal. As it is, it carries your eye in the wrong direction, if you see what I mean and acts as a bit if a barrier to the landscape you want us to focus on. I hope you don't think this is too harsh, and after all its just my opinion.

That green is really pretty- Southern Oregon is all dried up and dusty now- I have to water the lawn and flowers all the time to keep a bit of life in them. Back to your shot.. I think maybe it would look fun in black and white; the details might be more striking. You know, those mysterious Yorkshire Moors of ..that book..Wuthering Hieghts, I think. But of course then the green would be gone. Great view anyway!

hey ashley, nice shot, good POV, i think that a nicer composition could have been achieved by moving slightly to the left. good colours and the line of purple across the moor top is very nice, the skyis a bit over exposed but the blue at the other side is very nice, i know how it was today, bad conditions for photographs! nice shot

Hey Ash another nice green capture from you. Its a nice scene and I think its a very accurate representation of our part of the world, well taken.

Only thing I could say as a negavite is the sky in the right a bit bright, nothing huge though is it!

Hi Ashley. I like this photo. We have a lovely countryside, plenty of shades of greens. In four months time it will be all white. Nice summer image.
