Photographer's Note

Looking for a representative image to qualify for my first upload in Kent, several options came to mind.

This may not be every-one's idea of Kent, but I know there are those who will appreciate it, and there is interesting history to relate, that might otherwise pass you by !

This locomotive, while appearing to be an entirely convincing full size engine is in reality only one third scale. So the children are not giants really, silly you !

( I must apologise for including family members in this image, but they are there only for scale rather than for any sentiment, images of cuteness or what have you. )

The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway claims to be the world's smallest mainline railway. Its 15" gauge and 13.5mile track length, 7 stations go a long way to supporting the claim.

Built in the 20's, the railway was the vision of two men. I append a link here for those keen to read more.

( of course - the sequel to 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids' was in fact 'Honey I blew up the kids', but you get the idea.. )
