Government Motors

Photos with cars are not really my "cup of tea" but after my previous presentation I post today three photos with cars I made this summer in the showroom of GMRENCEN.
Today I want to link on my note on the Breaking News about the closure of a number of General Motors factories in my previous post.
To illustrate this, three photos with cars such as these were shown this summer in the showroom of GMRENCEN Detroit.

When the president of GM Charles Wilson was appointed minister of defence in 1953, he said: "What is good for General Motors is good for America."
This statement was frequently used in the following years to indicate the influence of the company. "See the USA in your Chevrolet and Baseball, Hot Dogs and Apple Pie".
In 2008, GM was the only major concern that was rescued by the government together with the banks under the guise of being too big to fail, even though GM was no longer one of the largest companies in the USA.
The company then invested mainly in factories abroad while in the USA many 10,000 jobs were lost. In 2013 GM even announced to invest in a factory in China. Americans feared driving in 'Made in China' Chevrolets.
President Trump wanted more jobs for the blue overalls in the car factories by closing the borders.
The current CEO of GM called the higher steel prices as a result of Trump's policy, one of the reasons for the current problems. But Americans also exchange their mid-sized cars for larger SUVs, as a result of which many GM brands are no longer running so well. Further robotization and automation is also necessary.
A politician may still call America First and have no message to the outside world, a company can no longer afford it.
GM has no message to America First anymore.
Trump is now threatening to stop subsidies to General Motors, potentially causing more jobs to be lost.
