Photographer's Note

This is the current sorry state of the organ of Clayborn Temple. From my internet search, I found out that the Temple痴 organ was the first one in the city powered by electricity, and with at least 5,000 pipes, it remains the city痴 largest (The Life, Death, and Rebirth of Clayborn Temple; Memphis The City Magazine).

According to John Beifuss, much of the organ is in 兎xcellent shape. Many of the pipes, however, have been broken or knocked over by the vandals that broke into the church during the past decade. Even so, "the pipes that are still in here and playable are magnificent," quoting Koziel, a member of the Memphis chapter of the American Guild of Organists, who removed individual pipes from their ranks and blew through them, like a flute, to check for pitch and timbre. Let us hope that they decide to restore the organ.

John Beifuss'a gre, orgun 輟ğu 杜kemmel durumda. Bununla birlikte, boruların 輟ğu, son on yıl i輅nde kiliseye giren vandallar tarafından kırılmış ya da devrilmiştir. ヨyle olsa bile, Amerikan Orgcular Teşkilatı Memphis blmnn bir yesi olan Koziel段n tek tek boruları saflarından ıkarıp ve ton ve tını i輅n kontrol etmek i輅n bir flt gibi, i輅ne fledikten sonra sylediğine gre "hala burada bulunan ve 軋lınabilir borular mkemmeldir."
