Photographer's Note

AYMINY (A Yorkshire Man In New York) is a series of shots I took on a short visit to New York.

This is my My 11th post.

I am also posting shots on my TrekLens site.

Just a straight forward shot of this icon, I wanted to show the scale of this statue as I was surprised how big it was.

Fr馘駻ic-Auguste Bartholdi was the sculptor of the Statue.
Many people believed Charlotte Bartholdi, his mother was the model for the statue.
Others thought it was based on his drawings for a never-commissioned statue in Egypt.
Because the statue was expensive to produce, the cost was shared, France paid for the statue, while America paid for its pedestal and foundation.
On October 28, 1886 the statue was unveiled to the world.
