Photographer's Note
This shot, on my first of two visits to Australia, was taken with a Minolta SRT-101, with a 135mm Minolta lens using Kodak Ektachrome film. I didn't think much about erosion at the time except for the often beneficial effect for landscape photographers and I certainly wasn't forward thinking enough to foresee the Bridge's fall 12 years and a month later. I was concentrating on catching the waves rebounding, framed by the larger span. I wasn't aware of the fall until I stumbled on a reference to it a few years ago.

a rare interesting natural bridge. delightful water colors and I am sure full of sounds. Quite a lot of power in those waves. A nice 1977 photo. TFS drt100 David

Hello William,
Welcome to TrekEarth! This is beautifully-executed photo. The markings on the bridge are fascinating, and catching the waves crashing underneath really makes this a dynamic shot.

Hi William
Welcome to TE and especially with this great photo of the ex-bridge. I've seen it before and after. An excellent scan with very true to life colour and good sharpness.
Cheers

Hello Willaim Welcome on TE! Yes, this is a historical picture as this natural bridge collapsed some years later. Fantastic view of the water splash. Another event of this type was a collapse of the Azure Window in Malta.
I think that from Twelve Apostles in Australia only seven survived.
Kind regards MAlgo

Hi William,
Beautiful slide shot from 1977. The bridge looks fairly sturdy in this pictures and twelve years is a short time. But force of waves is quite clear too, and result was inevitable. Great to see how it once looked.
Welcome to TE!
