Photographer's Note

When I pass by this gallery, I always think the red colour is very nice, I really like it. That day when I pass by, I had my camera with me so took the shot. Modify it after downloading. I have cut the photo to 1/2 and mirror it over, this is because the wall on the other side is not flat.

Established in 1855 by appointment to His Excellency Earl of Onslow, John Leech Gallery is New Zealand's earliest commercial gallery. Specialising in the sale of both contemporary and historical artworks, the gallery exhibits paintings, photographs, sculpture and object art by some of New Zealand's most significant artists including Frances Hodgkins, Sydney Lough Thompson, Charles F. Goldie, Russell Clark, Dennis Knight Turner, Theo Schoon and John Weeks. Represented contemporary artists include Richard McWhannell, Justin Boroughs, John Walsh and Lyonel Grant.
