Photographer's Note
Leymebamba is a small village in the department Amazonas in the north east of Peru. It is in the region of the so- called cloud forest, which is characterized by the influence of the cool altiplano and on the other hand by the vegetation of the rainforest.
The district of Leymebamba is situated in the river valley of a feeder of the Amazon river, the Utcabamba river. The capital Chachapoyas is at a distance of 85 km.
About 500 families live in the village and the main income is agriculture, like growing potatoes, maiz, yucca, corn and beans.
Leymebamba is known for the museum just outside town about the Chachapoya culture. It accomodates more than 200 mummies found in tombes in the region.
The Chachapoya culture had been a pre-inca culture, which lived from 800 and 1470 D.C in this region. About 60 years before the Spanish Conquest (ca 1530 D.C) the Chachapoya were conquered by the Incas.

Dag Jan,
Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Prettige dag verder,
John

Hello Jan,
I enjoy street scenes from unfamiliar countries. This is a lovely one with old buildings and the different facades. The red colours of the clothes add a nice touch of vibrant colour and the dog running down the road fills the space very well. Interesing picture and note - TFS.
Regards, Ann
