Mission | TrekEarth is dedicated to fostering a global community interested in photography from around the world. TrekEarth members strive to provide engaging photographs and useful critiques for each other and the entire internet community. | Overview The underlying theme of TrekEarth is learning more about the world through photography. TrekEarth fosters this by allowing
photographers to display their work grouped by regions in a supportive and orderly environment. This is accomplished by an
easy-to-use system which encourages people to critique each other's work. Integrated with this system
are forums designed to encourage discussion about specific photos, countries, and general topics. Since
TrekEarth is globally oriented, it is completely multilingual capable, allowing for the widest audience possible. Ultimately, TrekEarth depends on
the civility, honesty and participation of its members. By reviewing the Terms of Service, the TrekEarth community will remain true
to itself, and helpful to all.
Background TrekEarth was created by Adam Silverman and went online in October, 2002. Although much of TrekEarth was developed during the
summer of 2002, initial planning began over 2 years earlier with Adam's earlier project, TrekJapan.com. Designed for easy
access to photos from around Japan, plans were hatched shortly after to extend this functionality on a global scale, allowing
members to display and critique photos from countries around the world.
