Good use of flash and available light to give a dramatic image. If at all possible I would suggest you use a more powerful off camera flash mounted above head height to provide more illumination to the face with light fall off to the floor. This will provide a greater centre of focus on the head and less on the bike. To achieve this doesn't have to be expensive - an external flash, an extension cord and someone to hold the flash (or a cheap light stand) will do.

This is a picture in two halfs. The spirit of the picture is in the washing hanging between the two buildings, the balconies and the small aerial community. Down below...could be anywhere and cropping the two people bottom left is a distraction (either they should be in or out of the picture, not cropped). So, if it is possible I would recommend just focusing on the top half and croppng out the street and vehicles (a bit cliche but stronger than the rather diverse image that you are currently showing. I guess it was a bright day as the background is strongly blown out, this is a shame as there is a lot more detail to be captured.

Excellent photo, the angle, lighting and texture make it very difficult to get a grasp on this picture. Though after a while it becomes clear. I think you achieved your objective.

The processing on this image is what makes it special. There is the obvious assocaition between the numbers and the train. But without a not it becomes an abstract image without any real story.

Great image - the exposure duration is just right and gives the real impression of motion. A tripod as already mentioned may have given a bit more sharpness, but having said that for a web image and small prints it is probably fine.

This is quite an intriguing picture. It is one of those pictuers that the more you look at it, the more there is to find and the more you enjoy it. The initial impact of all the silhouettes is quite amazing, then you notice the boy at the front - has he spotted the camera? is he waving, stretching or pointing. The two people either side framing the boy and then all the groups of people behind involved in a myriad of different activities. And then by the top of the frame, it is just a mass of people - the abstract nature of which caps the image perfectly. This is a great picture - as are many in your gallery, and i like it very much.

This is great, not just for the colour, but also for the detail captured in the water reflections. Somtimes it is more important just to be their than to have the latest ang greatest equipment.

I'm glad you posted this picture as it helps to draw into focus the differences between what the west think African's need and what Africans actually want. To put this into context, I spent several months in Africa looking at the telecommunications industry and how much demand there is for telephone services, internet, etc... To cut a long story short, the second most important utility that most people want (the first being fresh water) is a telephone. This is above electricity, gas, fuels or any other type of service. Demand for telephone services in Africa is very very high and a lot of work is ongoing to ensure that they have access to at least some form of real time communication (phone - whether mobile or fixed). Celtel is an interesting case study of an African company which has grown quickly and expanded to meet the basic requirements of the people. It really is an African success story - something that western people don't often give African's credit for : yes African people can set up businesses and run them better than their western counterparts.

I love the colours on this image - as I do with the other one from the yacht as well. Both images give a good feeling of what it is like on a yacht this size and are both lovely, sharp and detailed.

Eeee, that bring back happy memories - the number of times that I have rolled the car into a storm drain is enough to make the eyes water - when I was 19 I managed to wreck 8 cars in 6 months either in storm drains, driving them over cliffs, rolling them on the roof or sometimes they just died on me. As to the picture - what is there to say? Angle is OK, nothing too dramatic and captures the essence of the scene without getting overly artsy about it. Thanks
