My near neighbour today. And both of us are in Italy, albeit on opposite sides of the country! Love the light in this shot: crystal-clear whites that sing, and the water of the harbour reflecting the blue of the sky. Nice.

Another of your (g)oldies. 50 years on, the photograph gains poignancy, historical resonance and bla bla. At the time I suppose it wasn't a time-capsule! Not pin sharp, but as a scan of an image made 1/2 a century ago, who cares?

I'm pretty sure R. and I walked down this street, not far from our hotel I think. The Christmas vibe seems slightly surreal in miserable February, but that makes it interesting. BTW, did you recognise the girl in my last posting??

Looks like I'm not the first to work it out. You're looking north. Sun rises in the east(ish), sets in the west(ish). So if this isn't a P'shop manipulation, you must have managed a double exposure... I don't know how you do that with a digital camera. With film you could over-ride the wind-on to capture 2 images on one piece of film. But to get the sun so exactly spot on ain't easy... I've got it: you threw an orange in the air!

A damp but still pretty shot of this popular, indeed famous corner of Bruges. Of course this is the Bonifatiusbrug (surprised you didn't identify it in your note!) which even in the rain looks great. Here's my (predictably black and white) version of the place, taken in similar conditions, although it wasn't actually raining at the time!

I remember Denman well from the time we lived in Newcastle, and I've certainly visited this pub!, Not a lot seems to have changed in the intervening years. Although I'm a bit of a pub afficionado, we were primarily visiting Denman for the other local alcoholic interest, namely the Upper Hunter wineries. Your image brings back some good memories.

I'm surprised no-one else so far has seen fit to comment on this rather superior image: perhaps because it's not the run-of-the-mill fare usually served up on this site these days. I love b/w photography, even in this digital age, and this example exploits the strengths of the medium very well. I'd have expected you to say you used a red filter; but the effect is superb: for me it almost feels as if it's under water...
