Hello Paul,
I have a similar picture. If I remember well, the districts we see on the background are located on the island of Malta. The small piece of sea between Malta and Gozo is not visible here.
Fascinating how this church towers over the village.

Hi Paul
You're right, that is Malta in the distance. It made me go back and look more closely to see if I could see the coastline and, if you look just in front of the church, you can see a bluff on the Maltese side of the strait and that's about all you can see from here. Because it towers over the landscape like it does I had to make an unplanned detour walk off the bus ride back to the ferry to go check the church out up close.
