Photographer's Note
I have promised a closer view of the Cabo Santa Maria shipwreck, which since 1968 is stranded on the northern shore of the island of Boa Vista. This particular picture and the absence of people nearby made me think of the book by Daniel Defoe titled Robinson Crusoe, which I read as a child. You can batter appreciate the remoteness of the location by looking at my previous photo:
https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/photo1603548.htm
which shows the larger fragment of the coast with a tiny dot of the shipwreck in it.
In fact it was not as desolated because our quad tour consisted of two families three people each and a guide. We have also spotted a group of people enjoying the beach nearby.
Somebody asked the question whether the ocean is calm enough to enjoy a swim in it. To be honest, the beaches around the island resemble visually Caribbean beaches with turquoise waters, however it is true that most fragments of the coast have strong winds. In fact, I heard there were some windsurfing world competitions happening here occasionally which means it is a place with winds all year round. There are however beaches which are more sheltered from the waves where you can swim. I think Boa Vista is perfect for the following reasons (of course you can mix and match them):
1. If you look for relaxing holidays in a sunny destination.
2. If you are into all sorts of surfing.
3. If you would like to see whales (only in the season).
4. If you would like to see sea turtles (only in the season).
5. If you like desert landscapes.
6. If you want a subtle but not overwhelming experience of African culture (no stress).
7. If you want to stay in a good quality resort.

Ciao Mariusz,I like your notes, in fact you have pointed out the reasons for choosing this place, but I would not go back, unfortunately there is very little to see and then there are neither butterflies nor coral reefs, so you have to be satisfied. I see that time has taken away a part of the wreck that at the time was more complete, however it remains a lucky shipwreck for those who organize tourist trips and have one more thing to show. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Mariusz,
I loved the story of 'Robinson Crusoe' and 'The Admirable Creighton' which follows a similar theme. I always wondered how we would have survived, cast ashore on a deserted island!
Your photograph creates the mood perfectly!
The f/g rocks on a sandy beach, with the incessant waves breaking and the abandoned ship in the b/g, really suggests isolation!
The photograph is beautifully composed, with fine details depicting the setting.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz,
Of the seven reasons you gave for going to Boa Vista, only one completely convinces me and two reasons partially.
It will probably remain with viewing photos :)
Other islands of Cape Verde may have other reasons to visit them.
I think this is a very beautiful photo.
It has a very attractive composition, good depth, beautiful natural colours with a nice contrast.
The topic is also interesting. I can't remember ever seeing a shipwreck.
Could it be that we see remnants of a green fishing net on the rocks in front?
Best regards, Paul

Hello Mariusz,
An excellent photo of the coastline here and the old and rusty shipwreck, which you placed well to the right of the composition. The inclusion of the rocks in the foreground is very good as well.

No i mamy nareszcie rozwiazanie zagadki. Kraj afrykanski, w ktorym rzeczywiscie nie bylam, wiec chetnie sie przyjze. :-)
A tu pare tygodni pozniej taki bonus. :-)
Pozdrawiam serdecznie

Hello Mariusz,
The shipwreck looks like a gazebo in the water. I love the color of the water.
