Bull jumping preparation, a photo from Southern, South

Photographer's Note

Th young man in the FG (you can't miss him!) is getting ready to undergo the transition to manhood which will enable him to get married. He must run/jump across a few cows being held in place by his mates. Beforehand his female supporters, in the BG, dance around and make a hell of a din with little trumpets and metal bells on their legs.

This could be the first nude man on TE since I posted a photo from South Sudan several years ago. My picture wasn't removed and hopefully this will also remain. It's quite an exciting composition with the cows in the middle and the henna coloured hair in the background.

A great TE image and it must have been such an experience to be there. I don't think th bull jumping ceremony is too touristy yet, but I may be wrong

I see in Belgium not this scene, but draditions are in this countries essensual.
Of course are the people a nice addition.
Lovely decorative, this is a beauty.

This is so unexpected!
It reminds me of the exploration programmes that used to be on tv, following the cultural practices of African or South American tribes. It痴 an amazing photograph.
You have used a fine dof, the main focus on the main man.

I saw a TV programm about this kind of scene, the boy has to prove he is brave, he will become a man and can choose a mate.
