Photographer's Note
It might be a little difficult to work out what is going on here. The church of St George, in the middle ground, arises from the rock from which it is carved.
It is one of eleven such churches around the town of Lalibela, and by far the most photographed.
It was "constructed" in the late 11th century when the King of Ethiopia, sought to recreate Jerusalem, and structured the churches' landscape and religious sites in such a way as to achieve such a feat.
Not sure that the churches are much like Jerusalem, but they are nonetheless impressive.

hello Stephen very good composition, of course the inclusion of the 2 subjects in the bg is decisive , the temple also helps a lot maybe too much blurred fg but it is my personal opinion,
best regards
Federico

Hi Stephen
We can imagine that the tower is in a hole in the ground- you could have stepped, nice ochre colors and I like the 2 seated chating persons at the background.
Cheers

Hi Stephen
I thought perhaps this is a TILT SHIFT photo...not sure.
It would help to see the church in its Entirety in a WS photo, to give us a sense of its size and structure. its hard to put it all together...anyways, its a different shot from the normal we see on TE and that's always a good thing. Keep them coming, great seeing such places. cheers
Craig
