Photographer's Note

This priest was looking out of the main entrance to the church of St George in Addis Ababa. The church was completed in 1911 on the site of an older church. Haile Selassie's coronation was held there in 1930.

The use solely of natural light brings out the features of his face and clothing superbly well and your wide aperture has made him stand out perfectly against a nicely out of focus background. Perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

This is an undeniably, excellent portrait.
You caught him just as he left the main entrance, so the light is falling on his face and the front of his robes, with a very good contrast of shadows to his back.
His face, particularly his eyes, shows a concentrated expression.

It is strange how he is holding up the cross, as if denying access.
You weren't showing fangs at the time!!!

This is an excellent photo great lighting on the priests face. The capture would have been better if the cross in his hand wasn't cut off. Otherwise well done!
