Photographer's Note
Day II
Walking in the desert during one week, even if you're in a group, means you spend a week facing yourself.
It's a time of deep peace, of deep silence. It's a time of serinity. You even get surprised by thinking about... nothing !
Even the guide, used to this fascinating atmosphere, can't avoid it !

This photo reminds me to "Lawrence of Arabia" I read that all the (huge) crew of this film went mad about the dessert so they did not want to finish the shooting there till the produced cut off the money... Epic shot, I like the inclusion of the human giving reference. Iエm very much a tropical person but I would like to enjoy an experience like this one. Thanks for bring us this not so well known country as it is Libya

Hi Stephane,
Lovely composition and a very good setting for meditation. I also like the rock formation. It is quite similar to some that I have seen in the Western States.

This is really a brilliant picture, I like the composition on the eroded rock and tuareg. I love that fact that there are only two main colours because the simplicity is excellent.

Hi Stephane,
An incredible scene. The ambience is palpable - I'm only glad we can enjoy this without the heat. I love the pose of the guide and the balance provided by the unusual natural structure. The lighting and colours are remarkable. Very well captured, Stephane.

Great shot of the desert! The rock and the sand with harsh light depicts the harshness of the desert life and the human shows that no matter what they can overcome it. TFS

Bonne soiree,

Hi St駱hane, It looks that it is tough to walk on the sand dunes. I see the empty feeling because of no plant around.
A beautiful shot with the clean look of the sand, the sky and the strange rock formation. Good to include the person in the picture to show the activity and the reference size.

Stephane, this is an incredible rock. I love the top-heavy shape into which it has been eroded by the wind and sand. It seems to loom over the man like a giant bird of prey. Great colours too. I love the combination of golden sand and blue sky.

nice photo to diplay the mood of your journey.
good composition with the pillar on one side and the person on the other side of the photo with immaculate desert and brilliant sky.
The pillar shows the effects of wind erosion so well .. the sand particles at the bottom are always bigger than at the top in the desert and that explains the shape of the pillar that is smaller at bottom and bigger on top. ... i also like the mood of loneliness and contemplation in this photo.
tfs ... regards ... sarju

Hey Stepan. I love this shot. Once again my intrigue with the desert comes out. I like the composition you have going on here. The rock is deffinitely an interesting sight. How long will it stay like that before collapsing or being covered completely by sand? THe dune in the background is in perfect harmony with the sky. Both in perfect smoothnes. The picture would have been great just like that, but the inclusion of the man makes it even more interesting. Different elements of this world working in together. One problem is the man's clarity.

Salut Stephane, Iエve come across your travelogues from Lybia just by chance because 2 of your pictures were featured in the opening page as destination. Mes congratulations.... vraiment incroyable... It`s just great to read your notes, I love deserts too, and you could say with words the feelings this place makes one feel... and great pictures indeed...
I chose this one for its message. Great composition, good expresion of the guy, and beautiful colours. Chau chau!

PS: a tip for you, if you can, try to go to Maranhao, Brazil, and visit there Santo Amaro, a village nearby the "Len輟is maranhenses" it is called the "Sahara brasileo", a trekking there is something really incredible... you wonエt believe it. I will post some pictures when I decide to digitalize them.
