Photographer's Note

Return to the desert, before the classic camel ride at sunset. This is the camel that was assigned to me, a nice smile before departure is a must, even if when he saw my weight he was a bit worried ... a smile from the camel to smile everyone in these difficult times.Pic taken in Merzouga,a tourist resort located in an oasis in the Moroccan desert, in the Er Rachidia province.
It was once a stopping point along the tracks that crossed the desert, now it is the departure and arrival point for tourists visiting the sandy desert (erg) as the huge erg Chebbi dunes are within a short distance. The nearest town is Erfoud.

Great photo, it is hard to tell whether he is smiling or trying to scare you away with his teeth. Great quality capture here. I admire the wide angle effect and the perfect depth of the field. Everything in sight is crispy sharp!

Hello Luciano,
This camel was proud of its bottom teeth, but he keeps the top ones hidden.
Was there a lot of growling?
In Tunisia, I once approached a camel so closely like here until I noticed just in time that it was biting at me and I could jump away on time. Since then, my trust in camels has been broken :)

Hello Luciano,
I think it was mainly worried by your heavy camera equipment. I rather like camels, because they seem patient and hardworking, but I wouldn't trust them if I came too close. Donkeys are probably nicer. Anyway you got yourself an amusing portrait, and the camel deserves to be in a better position than the Tuareg man.

Ciao Luciano, I do not wonder that the camel was worried when it saw how heavy you are, hahaha. Amusing picture. But camels can be not such friendly animals. In Morocco, in Agadir, a camel bit my shoulder. Nothing terrible, I just had a big bruise :). You posted before also some very nice pictures from this camel safari. How much time did it last? In India, we went for three days, with the nights under the sky. It was cold and the sand can be very hard.

I always fascinating with desert. Nothing I saw in Dubai ( desert ) , like I see in this Moroccan desert. Stunningly mesmerising.

This must be the most amusing photograph that I have critiqued, today! You explain the scene as a smile from the camel, before beginning the journey; I thought the camel mistook you for a dentist and was proving that it didn't need a filling!

What a close-up of the face of this camel, with its teeth you have to be careful with that size, they also like to bite, it seems that the starting point is a bit dirty, I suppose you will enjoy the walk, when I did it I did not I felt nothing safe up there and I lacked hands to grab me, I did not enjoy it.
Sharpness, lighting, color and magnificent composition; they are managed to perfection.
