Drummers, a photo from Marrakech, South

Photographer's Note

I have no idea what part of Africa these drummers are from, but their colourful costumes were eyecatching. Taken in Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, the main open space in the old quarter of Marrakech. They sounded good too.

The man at left with the red outfit and large hat is a water seller. The drummers seem to want their cups filled. Here's a frontal view I found on the internet from agefotostock:

Hello Chris,
I wouldn't be at all surprised if they turned out to be Moroccans- ;-) Their clothes almost made me believe they were dressed up like the three wise men, but there are six of them and they wouldn't have any Christian celebrations here, especially not in August. But the photo is colourful enough and it's taken from a good position, mixing traditions with modern life.

A great photo of the musicians in the square here, who you captured from a good angle and nice and high viewpoint. Their brightly coloured clothes are very attractive and also the row of bikes makes a good addition.

this is how I suppose many people imagine the three wise men to look like.
Very colorful outfits! Nicely captured from above and a distance so that they are unaware of your presence.

Hello Chris,
The hat of the man in red at the bottom left seems to me typically Moroccan. At least typical for the water carriers who pose for photos in the Jemaa el-Fnaa Square in Marrakech.
I don't know whether the drums and the rest of the clothes are typically Moroccan ...
I fear attracting attention is most financially rewarding for these men.

I remember the groups of musicians in the square - it made the evening very colourful although you had to be careful of some dodgy sales methods. A good photo.

Hello Chris, What you can see in Jemmaa-el Fnaa Square in Marrakech! Interesting scene. This water seller in characteristic for Morrocco. They always have hats like this. Funny drummers.

yes, they are typical personages of the square. anyway I never had courage to take photos of them in the square because I don't know how much I should to pay for each photo. a nice flagrant, probably from one of the restaurants around.
