Photographer's Note

The TIN MAL MOSQUE is a mosque located in the High Atlas mountains of North Africa. It was built in 1156 to commemorate the founder of the Almohad dynasty, Mohamed Ibn Tumart. It is one of the two mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims, the other being the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca. The prototype for the Tin Mal mosque was the Great Mosque of Taza (near F鑚), also built by Abd al-Mu'min. The Koutoubia in Marrakech was in its turn modelled on it.
The Tin Mal mosque was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on July 1, 1995 in the Cultural category.
Tin Mal (also Tinmel)is a small mountain village in the High Atlas 100 km from Marrakech, Morocco. It is considered the cradle of the Almohad empire,from where the Almohads started their military campaigns against the Almoravids in the early 12th century.
With the seizure of Marrakech in 1147, Tin Mal became the spiritual capital and the artistic centre of the Almohad empire. The village is home to the tombs of the Almohad rulers. In Tin Mal the Almohad dirham, symbol of its economic prosperity, was struck.

Oggi � ridotto a un piccolo borgo quasi abbandonato ma fu da qui che, agli inizi del XII secolo, Ibn Tourmet, profeta (mahdi) e fondatore del movimento almohade, diffuse il suo credo politico-religioso presso le trib� berbere dell'Alto Atlante. E da qui, nel 1147, organizz� le forze per rovesciare la dinastia che regnava a Marrakech. Su un'altura si distinguono le rovine di TIN MAL, la bellissima moschea e tratti delle antiche mura.

This demonstrates so clearly the architectural differences between countries and cultures. It has its own intrinsic beauty.
To me, it has the appearance of a face, with eyes, nose, surprised mouth and lovely curly hairline.

peccato per quella piccola bruciatura in alto a sinistra, ma conoscendo la tua bravura fotografica, probabilmente non hai potuto evitarla. Comunque hai fatto bene ugualmente a postare questa interessante testimonianza architettonica di questa antica moschea, la cui storia � bene descritta nelle tue note in inglese. Come sempre, la perfezione dei dettagli e la piacevole scelta del POV centrale, ci d� un'idea della sua preziosit�.
L'ufficio turistico del Marocco dovrebbe darti un premio :-)

I dettagli di questa mosca sono impressionante. Gli hanno catturato bene con un POV, nitidezza e colori eccellente. C� un po di sovraesposizione a sinistra, ma ancora la foto e'stupenda.
