Ambunten is a small fishing community on the north coast of the island of Madura.

---

This picture zooms in on the bow of a fishing boat. This kind of paint work is typical for Madura. I thought it was really beautiful, my guess is that this type of pattern is believed to offer protection for the men at sea.

Fresh colours, as this is a detail of a bow that had just been painted over.
