Photographer's Note
At the last of the festival, the portable shrine ("Mikoshi") where the soul of the God is beleived to be inside is carried to the pure river and is purified. The carrier, 32 sacred men are selected by the shrine. They are permitted to carry this protable shrien only one time a life.

Hello Takero,
This looks quite a struggle against the flow and currents of the water. You have caught the wonderful expressions on the faces of these men. A superb shot full of activity and interest. Technically excellent too.
Best wishes, Ann

Hello Takero. Here, the shrine is transported in the water. Strong men carry the shrine. But the faces are cheerful. You have seen this amazing scene as a professional and well presented. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Takero,
This looks very difficult and almost dangerous, but the great honour seems to be greater than the problems and you have captured a lot of very expressive faces. It is a dramatic and eye-catching photo. The colours are well captured and the light is excellently handled.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Takero - A really fantastic shot and a wonderful ceremony. What a privilege to be chosen to carry the shrine. The colours are more subdued than in many of your festival shot but I think perhaps it adds to the solemn nature of the event.I love the expressions on the men's faces, each one will have stories to tell at day's end and for the rest of their lives. Lovely work. Warm regards Rosemary
PS One day you should tell us about festivals you have participated in on the other side of the lens!

Another wonderful festival shot, Takero - I love the expression on the face of the man at far left, closest to the water, clearly laughing despite his heavy burden and his depth in the river. The off-kilter shrine makes it a dynamci subject, and you chose a good DOF to bring it out without losing the surroundings too much. Nice shot!

Wow,
Superb photo Takero. This is quite original. Getting this shrine to be purified is not a easy task. They all seem to struggling with the weight and the current. Great light and sharpness as usual.
Best regards.

Hello dear Takero,
this is a wonderful photo, very interesting and symbolic, in my opinion. Your lighting is superb, the colours of the moody day are not dull at all but their neutrality helps the details of the lovely shrine and, most important, the expressions of the carriers stand out and captivate us. We empathize with the earnest effort and persistence each of them is trying to carry out his sacred task in the silvery river. A fascinating group scene presented with remarkable clarity and vividness. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,
Ourania

Hello Takero,
This scene is really amazing. I can feel the struggle of these man to carry this heavy shrine in the water. I like the intense looks on their faces, and the shrine itself is beautiful. The wood details compliment the the natural background very well.

Hi Takero!
Seems they really like the moment but I guess it's not that easy to carry the shrine in the water. Another good photo of the festival, with a good composition and focus!

Hello dear Takero-san!
Another fine picture of an absorbing festuval! The details of the wonderful shrine is lovely. The expression on the faces of the shrine bearers is worth noting. It seems the water is cold & that's why a few of them are wincing...or it maybe because of the weight of the shrine as well! A fine picture as always showing the deep cultural roots of your country!
Best Regards froma rainy Mumbai
