Photographer's Note
The Reichsburg is already illuminated by the early morning sun, while the city of Cochem still rests in deep shadow and morning fog drifts over the Mosel river and still hangs around the castle tower.
In the most romantic part of the Moselle Valley, where the river curves between Eifel and Hunsrck - lies the old town of Cochem.
The Reichsburg, situated on a precipitous rock high above the town, dominates the landscape. The many delicate pointed towers, battlements and oriels give the impression of a typical fairy tale castle, particularly as it is one of the few castles in Germany, which was rebuilt in its original style after its complete destruction.
As impressive as the castle itself is the view of the Moselle Valley with its beautiful forests, meadows, fields and vineyards, as well as the old part of the town.
The town of Cochem itself is a sight worth seeing, not only because of its narrow streets and twisty alleys, the lovingly restored half timbered houses with the typical slate roofs, the historical market-place, but also because of its medieval town gates, churches and walls.

I find you have sold it to me ...I say that, because I lived out there in the 80,s and it brings back fond memories we lived near Ramstein and traveled regularly to Bernkastel as well as up the Mosel to Cochem and sometimes all the way up to Winnigen ....anyway thank you for sharing such beauty, generally a good panoramic view with good detail

Bonjour Paul,
Amicalement.

Hi Paul
You have achieved an almost 3D effect here, with exceptional sharpness of the foreground housing, the hillside and the castle and the background slightly out of focus really gives emphasis to the main body of the photo. Great colour and interesting scene. Great handling of the light to get both good clarity of the village and the castle.
Cheers

Hi Paul,
Splendid view of the Cochem - town and the Castle. it is a such fantastic place, I like so much the half timbered houses in German towns, and the castle itself is splendid.

Hello Paul.
Very good perspective the one that you offer us of Cochem's villa, I know the place but gray and sadly not with a few so nice lights and such an attractive color. Good work.
Regards.
Luis.

Hi Paul,
Beautiful oldtown image of Cochem, I admit I don't know much about it. thanks for the introduction. It is very charming and cozy with the river below and a castle above. Good details and clarity even in the shadow part of the image, the only I would have wish or done different is to include more of the sky so the top of the tower don't touch the frame, but having a little less water on the bottom. Good shot regardless. I enjoyed it.

Bonjour Paul,
Comme quoi, il n est pas toujours necessaire d aller loin pour avoir des sujets tres interessants.
L emplacement de ce chateau sur cet a-pic au dessus de la riviere, doubl avec les maisons typique en contre bas donne une vue originale et attractive.
Ca me donne envi d aller visiter cet endroit.
Yves.

dear Paul,
a splendid panoramic picture,
artistic lined houses still in the shadow by the river and the old castle already lighted by morning sun on the hill are interestingly and beautifully contrasted.
this structure is common in the war age at every country.
anyway houses look designed nicely, and the castle shows us the long severe time.
your capturing is nice to express this wonderful view.
thank you,
Akihisa

Beautiful architecture and river scenery captured. I know this isn't always possible but I think it would make a better shot if done at a different time of day when the shadows aren't on the houses.
Best regards,
Rob
