Vesperata de Diamantina, a photo from Minas Gerais, Southeast

Photographer's Note

A Vesperata � um evento 匇par, 佖ico, aut麩tico por ter suas origens nas pr疸icas musicais tradicionais em Diamantina no s馗ulo XIX, quando no per卲do das v駸peras (que s縊 a parte da Liturgia das Horas, que � celebrada � tarde, entre 15 e 18 horas) m俍icos eram dispostos nas sacadas dos casars para tocar para as pessoas que passeavam nas ruas.

Reeditada em 1998 para que expressasse as potencialidades culturais de Diamantina no pleito ao t咜ulo de Patrimio Cultural da Humanidade, a Vesperata ganhou o formato que mantem at� hoje na Rua da Quitanda, com m俍icos da Banda do 3ｺ Batalh縊 da PMMG e da Banda Mirim Prefeito Antio de Carvalho Cruz posicionados nas sacadas dos casars, com os maestros posicionados sobre um tablado no centro da rua se revezando na reg麩cia, cercados pelo p炻lico que ocupa as mesas dos estabelecimentos que ofertam servi輟s de alimenta鈬o durante o evento.

A Vesperata � reconhecida como um importante produto tur﨎tico-cultural do Brasil. Esse reconhecimento n縊 se faz somente por aqueles que j� tiveram a oportunidade de assisti-la, mas tamb駑 por g縊s p炻licos como o Minist駻io do Turismo, que em 2010 premiou a Vesperata com o Trof騏 Roteiros do Brasil, por promover a Sustentabilidade Cultural no Munic厓io.

The tables will soon be filled by merry people having dinner. The atmosphere is already great among the lights under the black sky. The colours of the tables also make the view cheerful and the fine buildings underscore the good atmosphere.

There is a wonderful sense of anticipation, with the tables set, the menus ready and the illuminated lights on. Some people are standing around, as if waiting to see the spectacle.
It is like waiting for the opening performance of a great opera or play!
Your fine viewpoint creates good linear perspective with the colourful details.

Hi Lucas,
beautiful night shot. I like the repeated element of the table, they also have the whole variety of colors. I suppose although it is night time people will arrive later.
Very stylish houses, it must be a lovely place for an evening stroll. I like in particular the star shaped lights.

There is enough place and it shouldn稚 be difficult to find a table for dinner. I think there is only one problem. The tables are so close together that it is difficult to walk to your place. And maybe it is also not very attractive if your neighbours are so close.
Lovely picture that illustrate this situation.

Ta� um evento que sou doido para ver, assim como para conhecer a cidade. As fileiras coloridas de mesas esperando o espet當ulo ficaram interessantes, e a arquitetura t厓ica da cidade ficou bem real軋da com as estrelas de fogo nas paredes. This sounds like a nice event. It must get very crowded. I like your chosen POV, with tables filling the center, and stretching out into the distance. The architecture on both sides is nice, too. Wonderful exposure, with lovely little bursts of light that look like stars.
