Photographer's Note

Street capture of an elderly Uyghur at downtown Kashgar livestock market. Old, wily but looked street smart & alert I think, one sure way to stay alive & competitive in a hectic environment. His deep set facial features & white beard was an instant standout among the crowd. Obviously not a 素lowery� shot which gives me a rare opportunity to live the lives of my subject and seeing people as they really are.

Set to full aperture to counter balance the slightly foggy early morning light

Setting: 200 mm, 1/320 sec, F2.8, ISO Raw 100, 0640 hrs

Hello Abmdsudi,

You obviously got the camera settings correct, for the photograph of this man痴 face is perfectly sharp against a useful out of focus b/g.
His tanned and wrinkled face looks full of concentration, whilst the pale colours of his beard and hat make good contrasts.

Hello Abmdsudi, this type of shot is one where you excel; a sharp detailed portrait with a lovely out of focus background.
The expression on the man's face suggests to me that he is thinking or maybe studying something out of shot.
Did he know that you were taking a picture of him?

Amazing portrait. I really like the expression you captured on this man's face - you can see years of experience, he must have seen a lot in his life, especially in the corner of the world where he lives.
You captured the details of his wrinkly face, his beard and his hat so well. I also like the way you left space on the right for him to look at and the out of focus background where we can just make out other faces.
I've just added it to my favs.
