Photographer's Note

Hania (or Chania) is the main town in western Crete. This is the classic scene from the old harbour, my version. The domed building is what's left of an old mosque that dates from Turkish times. These days it is used for art exhibitions (of varying quality).

Hello Benny, I am wondering where you were to get this high point of view?
It is a great shot with excellent sharpness.
I love the contrast of the domed building with all the others that have straight sides and right angles.
Lovely too, to see the people, and the horses and carriages on the sea front.

Hi Benny

I know this spot. Perhaps you stayed in the same hotel as me? If there was 50 euro under the bed it's mine, lol! The bg minaret belongs to another mosque. The fg minarets were destroyed by the WWII nazi air invasion. Tfs!

De religieuze gebouwen zijn in iedere stad of dorp nog altijd een belangrijk architectuur.
Ook worden ze voor een ander doelstelling gebruikt.
Uw foto is wel heel mooi overzichtelijk en mooi om naar te kijken.

Quel beau choix de point de vue. Une petit plong馥 vers un quartier en bord de mer lorsque la lumi鑽e est � son summum. J'aime bien ces bulles roses � l'avant plan.

(Kunst) tentoonstellingen zijn wat mij betreft een prachtige bestemming voor kerken, moskee�n, synagogen en tempels. Een aantrekkelijke manier om deze vrijkomende gebouwen te bewaren voor de toekomst. Hier een juweeltje tussen de andere gebouwen aan deze waterkant.

Hallo Benny,
Ik twijfelde of het een hammam was of een moskee.
Misschien een gekke vergelijking maar ik heb al hammamgebouwen gezien die ook zo'n koepels hebben.
Een mooi zicht vermoedelijk vanop een grote boot genomen.
Er staan heel wat paardenkarren te wachten op de bezoekers die per boot aankomen.
Links van de moskee zien we ru�nes van ... Misschien een oude stadsmuur ?

lovely old architecture. Great light, perfect point of view.
This old mosque seems quite unique.
The scene indeed resembles more Middle East than Europe.
It encourages me very much to visit Crete.

Hello Benny, how you could miss such a nice picture from Chania. Interesting building of the former mosque, with many domes but without minaret, though behind the white building there is minaret, it seems. Nice picture.
Nice horse cabs, quite elegant.
What a view you had for breakfast of before sleeping. Good choice of the hotel :).
