Kaprijke
Photo made during a visit to friends.
History:
The name Kaprijke probably comes from the Gallo-Roman name "Capriacum" which means as much as "Goed van Caprius" (Caprius is a personal name). The Romans, who built the settlement, fled German invaders in the 5th century. The current Kaprijke is first mentioned around the 13th century, after a period of six centuries of abandonment.
In 1240, Kaprijke received a certificate from Johanna van Constantinople, so it had city rights.
During the Middle Ages, a large part of it was covered with heath and marsh, and Kaprijke had to be protected against the destructive influences of the sea, this was done by the construction of the Graaf Jansdijk. It ran from Antwerp via Bentille to Knokke. However, this dyke could not prevent Kaprijke from being largely flooded in 1403.
In the late Middle Ages, Kaprijke was a relatively prosperous town, mainly due to the share of the cloth industry. The Kaprijks wool was known far beyond the borders for its high quality.
I hope you like it

Hallo John, this old red brick building serves a cityhall in this town. It is surmonted by a turret. Its courtyard contains a garden were a lot of trees are growing. Fine colors, good sharpness, instructive photo note, regards.

Hallo John,

Hello John,
The sharpness of this photo is impressive, and the good light has created an excellent clarity. The building is partly hidden by the trees, but we can still see that it is an elegant building which probably is the pride of this small town.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello John,
This town hall is attractive, but the two things that really catch my eye in this photo are the red-trimmed shutters, and those strange trees! I have never seen bare trees like those, and there are a lot of them. It's an interesting scene.

Hi John
I love the angle, composition and colours, adorned by those beautiful trees as effective base directing the eye to the main feature - the city hall building as always the grandest edifice! Excellent capture.
Best regards

Hi John
So what exactly is this building? a very effective city shot with the angle you chose, the lighting and the large clouds up above. Lots of history here too, way more than what we have here in Canada :) Interesting building for sure
cheers

Hello John, Here something new. Lovely winter picture, when the trees are still leafless and we can see the building behind them. I like the red and white window shutters. Charming picture.
Kind regards Malgo

Hello John,
I always think, when I see your photographs, how well it has been composed!
The wall, emerging from the corner, acts so effectively as a guide to the focal red-brick, city hall, strongly placed in the frame. The trees are useful for a sense of perspective, as well as softening the rigid outline of the building.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi John,
what a charming place, I like its elegant stylish architecture.
The trees are so nicely trimmed to make eye catching decorations and they make a pleasant repeated motif here.
Sky added a nice touch here as well.
Excellent work,

Hi John.
This is truly a beautiful photograph, perfect technically, the mixed colours on the walls and red frames of the windows look very nice. Also the top chopped trees are just an excellent addition to the entire scene. Thanks for sharing, have a good day.

Hallo John,
Have you ever heard about the triffids? That's what these heavily pruned trees resemble. Good sharpness with nice warm cold colour contrasts. Tfs!

Hi John.
Impressive image of this spectacular rock wall in vertical, with its varied shades of color, magnificent POV capturing on the left that pine that seems to compete in height.
After a long period that I needed as a rest and to dedicate myself to my new change of residence, from Madrid I have moved to live in a smaller city 30 km away. Alcala de Henares, a beautiful city with a lot of history and very nice and quiet.
A nice photo of this simple Town Hall, in a country where you have wonders, that's why I think it is a small town or at least this is what the image transmits to me, with a large POV with those trees of which they have only left a stump on top.
Very effective color, which highlights the details of the image.
A good management, both of the luminosity, as of the sharpness.
Very well done. I like.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
