Photographer's Note
I had planned to post something else today, but after my last photo showing the Wisła river in Krakw, Craig (macjake) complained that it didn't show enough of the walls of Wawel hill, the most famous place in Poland.
So I searched my archive and found this almost forgotten photo showing as much of the walls as I could possibly manage without a drone.
Wawel hill is the seat of the former Royal Palace and a cathedral where most Polish kings are buried. You can see the towers of the Royal Archcathedral Basilica of Saints Stanislaus and Wenceslaus on the Wawel Hill (krlewska bazylika archikatedralna śś. Stanisława i Wacława na Wawelu) to the left. Somewhere behind, not seen from here, is the Palace. There has been a cathedral at Wawel since the 11th century. The construction of the present cathedral, the third one, started in the 14th century.
Here is a larger version.
A closer view of the Wawel walls can be seen in a workshop.
I have earlier shown this photo of a Wawel wall with the compulsory postcard as a workshop.

Hello Gert,
The composition is well conceived making good use of the footpath as a lead-line toward the castle walls and the church spires. The people (of course) enliven the scene and contribute to the summery atmosphere. Agreeable lights and colours and excellent sharpness.

Hello Gert,
The dual grey paths add superb lead in lines towards the castle. I don't remember the river on the right as I entered the castle so perhaps I approached from the opposite side? Anyway, perfect sharpness, density levels and saturation. Tfs!

Hello Gert,
Craig was right and now you have shown us what we curious about from the last shot.
The people are still sunbathing and relaxing in the early summer temperatures whilst the path leads not only to the walls but cleverly takes us on a tour of the entire scene.
The light is lovely and the colours well saturated.
Who wouldn't want to stop and join these people!
Have a great Sunday,
Bev :-)

Sunbathing with Wawel, Gert.
I see mostly youngsters on the green lawn, while other's just taken a stroll along. An intriguing POV with the boat and old walls in red.
The curving promenade gave good sense of depth to the composition.
Good afternoon,

Hej Gert,
Two charming shots from this same place. Indeed this palace is well worth showing. And same relaxed summer feeling shows on this one too. People are just a bit further so it doesn't become main theme on this.

Hi Gert
I like how Bev said "craig was right" haha :)
but this really is much better. you have the best of both worlds, the people laying about, the Fortess in the bg.
and yah, its kind of post card-ish...but postcard views are such because they are often the best views!
this is a lovely simple composition, it works so well.
so pleasing to the eye. really like this one

Ciao Gert
Craig ha fatto bene a farti guardare nell'archivio, hai tirato fuori una foto molto bella e ricca di cose da osservare.
Splendida la linea curva che delimita la parte fluviale dalla citt con i suoi meravigliosi monumenti.

Hi Gert,
Nice picture made probably some minutes later after the previous one from Krakw. It is more postcard-ish, or rather half postcard and half nothing special type. Excellent composition with the whole Wawel and also pleasant atmosphere, like in the song:
Now I'm sitting here,
Sipping at my ice cold beer,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.

A splendid image, transmitted by the cheerful atmosphere of a summer day with a radiant sun, and all those people lying on the grass, ideal the touch of the boats and superb background with the walls and towers of the cathedral.

Good management of the lighting and the sharpness.
Well done. I love.
Have a good week.
Very best regards.

Hi Gert,
The road is sending my eyes toward the trees which is giving depth to the composition. The presence of the people is animating the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the walls, of the palace and of the cathedral. Have a nice day.

Hello Gert,
it's a delightful scene thanks to the sunshine and the bright colours, your wide perspective and the combination of the grand old architecture with the carefree scenes of leisure. A very agreeable sight that could be part of a "summer in the city" theme. I like the close up workshop too, it's well-composed and looks timeless. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania

Dear Gert,
When I last visited it some 10 years ago, there weren't any locals and tourist on the river bank. It was a dull, snowy day and the Wawel showed another face.
Nice postcard!
Best Wishes,

Good morning Gert
To be honest... I didn't even notice you hadn't included the Wawel Hill in the previous upload. Because I have been to this very place so many times, I can see it with my mind's eye. Seriously, a small detail triggers that mental process.
And my faviourite taken there doesn't include the castle or even the wall: https://i.redd.it/fbh3q3w3ws1y.jpg
Have a nice weekend

Hello Gert,
I remember this place in Krakow. There were much less people when I was there but I remember there were different tables where men were playing chess.
The curve of the path is important for the attractive composition.
An impressive building and towers of the cathedral.
People are dotted nicely all over the picture as far as we can see.
Best regards, Paul
