Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
I have returned to Liverpool to share this photograph of a building and its reflection.
This is George's Dock Building and is a Grade II listed building. It is located at the Pier Head on the city's waterfront. It is part of Liverpool's UNESCO designated World Heritage Maritime Mercantile City. It was built in the 1930s in the Art Deco style.
The George's Dock Building was designed by Herbert Rowse, chief architect of the Queensway tunnel, and besides housing a variety of authorities, is the most ambitious of the six buildings built to provide ventilation for the 2.1 mile long road tunnel under the River Mersey.
I just loved how it appeared to have a twin, reflected in the nearby building.
I also took another reflection, showing this building as a reflection along with a ventilation shaft.
Have a good day, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
Only a human could compose a photo like this! ;-) (I read the forum.) The tall Dock Building is beautifully reflected in the huge glass complex. I love how the dark blue and light brown areas to the left are separated from the light blue sky by a perfect diagonal. While this is the best and most elegant composition the WS is even more intriguing. It's one of the cases when it's hard to tell, at least immediately, what is reflected in what. But is it indeed a reflection, or do we see twin towers, two identical cars and two red signs? It's really fun to watch it and be bewildered.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley,
A fine mirror to the old George's Dock Building, almost precise - but still offers wonderful effect.
Both the WS is attractive, must repeat what I stated already: since joined TE I appreciate and value reflection pictures which did not see at all before...
Good evening,
Ike

Hello Beverley, I would feel very pleased if I had taken either of these pictures.
Either would have made a good main post.
I notice that the reflection actually shows us more than the 'real' thing.
Art Deco style, didn't they go to a lot of trouble when building this?
Seeing pictures in this style, reminds me of Harry Worth, do you remember him, when he did that funny trick at the shop window?
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello Bev,
Gosh, I was reading some critiques by others before writing this and I suddenly realised that Jean was thinking exactly the same as me - remembering Harry Worth waving an arm and a leg in a shop doorway and presenting an amusing reflection to the cameras!
Both of these photographs are a testament to your observational skills and also your ability in seeking out exactly the right viewpoint (I hate it when people write "point of view" because I've always believed that's something quite different - or maybe that's just my own personal point of view! Ha, ha.).
And then, of course, I'm wondering if, on this particular trip to Liverpool, you were accompanied by Rob Zwemmer who, together with his son, Lars, are both experts at finding marvellous reflections?
Anyway, no matter, these are two spectacular photographs, very well observed and very well taken with good light and colours, perfect exposure and excellent detail and clarity.
Brilliant!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Beverley,
Great photo of this impressive stone building in Art Deco style, which was reflected here so beautifully in the large glass fa軋de. Nice distortions also and a nice warm/cold colour contrast.

Hi Bev
Very clever compositions to create the 2 pairs of twins. I must copy your technique sometime when I get to visit a large city (ie Sydney) again, whenever that may be.
cheers

Hello Beverley,
I really like the photo in the WS. At first, I wondered if you presented twin towers also there. But the parked cars and the red trash bins made it clear to me.
I don't know what the black triangles on your main picture are...
Nor am I sure that this is a blue hour photo but the blue of the sky and its reflection in the glass facade go well together with the brown building.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev,
Beleza de composi鈬o explorando o reflexo da torre. O azul caiu bem para real軋r o contraste com a cor das "duas" torres.

Hello Beverley! Excellent idea to combine the old building with the modern one the way you did. It's like the past is reflected on the present and the future! A thought provoking photo...Very well done!
