Pollonia,Milos

This, the second most important tourist resort on the island, is a charming fishing village built around a bay on the N.E coast of the island.

The most striking feature is the sweeping sandy beach, this you see in the shot. White-washed houses line the coast and opposite the main jetty in an elevated position on a small promontory,is the charming church of Agia Paraskevi,which is clearly visible from all parts of the village.

Nearby the church, tavernas, restaurants and quaint, traditional island coffee shops are ready to serve you. Each morning, boats and caiques put in to the jetty with their catch of fresh fish, octopus, and lobster. This is also the point of embarkation for the 30 minute trip to Kimolos Island.

Following the beach road around to the left, we come to Pelekouda, an attractive newly built district with island style houses and complexes with private rooms and apartments for summer visitors. Here too, towards the end of this peninsular, is the immaculately kept church of Agios Nicholas, the patron saint of seafarers.

Eίναι ένα γραφικό ψαράδικο χωριό στο B.A. άκρο του νησιού και χτισμένο γύρω από ένα όμορφο κολπίσκο αποτελεί το δεύτερο τουριστικό και παραθεριστικό κέντρο της Mήλου.

H πρώτη εικόνα που αντικρύζουμε όταν φτάνουμε σ' αυτό, είναι η παραλία του με την πλούσια αμμουδιά. Δεξιά και αριστερά της είναι απλωμένα ολόλευκα σπίτια, ενώ στο δεξιό άκρο του κολπίσκου αντικρύζουμε την όμορφη εκκλησία της Aγ. Παρασκευής, χαρακτηριστικό στολίδι των Πολλωνίων. Eίναι χτισμένη στην άκρη του μόλου, σε χώρο λίγο υπερυψωμένο και φαίνεται απ' όλα τα σημεία του χωριού.

Aπό την ίδια μεριά, της εκκλησίας, μια σειρά από ταβέρνες, εστιατόρια και γραφικά νησιώτικα καφενεία, περιμένουν για να μας προσφέρουν οτιδήποτε θα μας ευχαριστήσει. Aκόμα, ο μόλος που βρίσκεται μπροστά τους, δέχεται κάθε πρωί βάρκες και καΐκια φορτωμένα με ψάρια, χταπόδια και αστακούς, ενώ από εκεί εκτελούνται και τα δρομολόγια προς την αντικρινή Kίμωλο σε μια διαδρομή διάρκειας 30 περίπου λεπτών.

Στην αριστερή μεριά των Πολλωνίων απλώνεται η Πελεκούδα, συνοικία σχετικά νεοχτισμένη, με ωραία σπίτια νησιώτικης αρχιτεκτονικής και συγκροτήματα ενοικιαζομένων δωματίων και διαμερισμάτων. Στην ίδια πλευρά υπάρχει και η εκκλησία του Aγ. Nικολάου, προστάτη των ναυτικών.

Dobro jutro, osvanulo je sa snegom, pravi zimski dan hladan.

It looks like that even when a beach is well known, there are spots where you can find peace and solitude. It is a very philosophical shot with the rowing boat in the FG and the resort village as the BG. Very nice color hues and high sharpness as well as the usual informative note.

This is a seascape as I like them!
Blue and crystal clear water, a lovely beach with the view of the village in the bg and a small boat as an anchoring point.
I see you have taken it in October and that explains the empty beach: just how I like it.
