Sunset in Mykonos, a photo from Kyklades, South Aegean

Photographer's Note

During the sunset a lot of tourists were on the hill with the five windmills as you can see in my previous photo as and other places of the xora,the capital of the island of Mykonos.
Here we are on the hill with the five windmills,with an old Japanese woman sitting on a small rock to capture with her video the sunset.

Δάνο, νάτα τα ωραία....σαν να βλέπω την κυρά Λένη, εμένα δηλαδή, να κάθεται εκεί με τίς ωρες να αγναντεύει...υπέροχο ηλιοβασίλεμα με τον ήλιο να σβήνει τόσο όμορφα μέσα στο νερό...μοναδικά τα χρώματα και έγραψες πάλι, οπτικά και στην καρδιά και στο μυαλό!!

Καλησπέρα Δάνο,
πολύ όμορφα τα χρώματα, η ατμόσφαιρα και η υφή και κίνηση της θάλασσας ου κατάφερες να αποτυπώσεις με το τελευταίο φως της ημέρας. Μου αρέσει πολύ το πώς φιλτράρονται και συνυπάρχουν το φως με το σκοτάδι. Βρίσκω πολύ ενδιαφέροντα τον τρόπο που αντιμετώπισες τη σκηνή παρακολουθώντας ταυτόχρονα τον δύοντα ήλιο και την κυρία που τον κινηματογραφεί. Τους συνέλαβες και τους δύο την πιο κατάλληλη στιγμή. Συγχαρητήρια και ευχαριστώ!

Hello Danos,

You're capturing well this scene by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the tasteful sunset scene on calm sea. The sun is just sinking to horizon inside the sky dyed to orange color. It's effective for woman who is sitting on a rock and is photoing this sunset. And, the peninsula which is visible in the distance draws out an additional good atmosphere in this image.

The Sunset is a good way to finish the day. The distance between the tourist and the horizon is giving depth to the composition. You have captured well the action of the tourist. The Sunset is giving nice colours to the sky. Have a nice day.

I have not come to appreciate videos. I still like still photography; to me, there is something about freezing time that is so special. Here you have indeed frozen a precious moment very well, with lush colors and good composition.

Hi Danos,
There is something so cool about capturing another photographer doing their art, and it makes me wonder if we also feature in the shots of other photogs around the world, as we balance precariously on rocks looking for that best angle, or stand on our toes to get the right height. And to be able to present this with such a fine backdrop, the final moments of the sun lighting the sky on fire... Beautiful.

Superb capture as you managed to catch the sunset on time, sure you are so pleased with the outcome as there is the obvious delight of blood red fireball which could be more than eye-catching. I think it is a classic image, well timed when the sun being just in the right place above the horizon. Very natural tenderly, love the depth with sufficient detail in the figure. I find this superb, the tones and blending of sunset atmosphere with other parts are just amazing. Awesome shot, Congrats

A sensationally pleasing moment captured here, there's a calming atmosphere which is most enjoyable. Smart idea to add a human touch to the scene, giving it added appeal. Always fun as well to photograph the photographer. :) This is a great way to complete any day, and you've done it to be even more relaxing and colorful. I really like the timing, catching the tiny bit of the sun before it drops below the horizon, making a nice reference point in the composition. Beautiful! Enjoy the day ahead.

Peaceful and pleasant sunset, with the sky so warm color, but without any cloud, to give more charm to time, superb POV, with that tourists also capturing the moment, I also witness a sunset at this place, when I visited the island.
Good management of the brightness, sharpness is also optimal.

An unusual capture of another photographer avidly engrossed in recording the sunset. Good sharpness and superb color and saturation with nice warm vs cold color contrasts between the orange red and blue grey. Well framed and composed too with the horizon off centre. Tfs!

So located right-on a vertical tiers line, she provides an interesting visual mass that balances perfectly the main subject, the setting sun!
