View to Paris - Three Towers and the Pont Saint-Michel (in the foreground)
Three buildings are visible from left to right on the photo: Dme des Invalides, St-Germain-des-Pr駸, Eiffel Tower. This photo was taken from the Notre-Dame. I hope for it you like this panorama. Beautiful weekend!
Dme des Invalides
The complex of buildings known as Les Invalides sits in Paris痴 7th arrondissement and consists of museums and monuments related to the military history of France. The most recognizable and well-known part of Les Invalides is the Dme des Invalides, a gold-domed building now used as a burial site for a number of the country痴 war heroes. Plans to bury the remains of the Royal Family here were set aside after the death of king Louis XIV, and in 1840 king Louis-Philippe repatriated the remains of the Emperor Napoleon from st. Helena - where he was buried after his death 19 years earlier - to have Napoleon entombed here. The Dme des Invalides now also houses the tombs of several other military leaders like Turenne, Vauban and marshall Foch.
St-Germain-des-Pr駸
St-Germain-des-Pr駸 is the oldest church in Paris. Parts of it date to the 6th century, when a Benedictine abbey was founded on the site by Childebert, son of Clovis. The church was built to house a relic of the True Cross brought from Spain in 542. In the Middle Ages, the Church of St-Germain-des-Pres was so powerful, both religiously and culturally, that it became like a town within the town. Unfortunately, the Normans all but destroyed the abbey at least four times, and only the marble columns in the triforium remain from the original structure. The carved capitals on the pillars are copies of the originals, which are kept in the Mus馥 National du Moyen-Age. The church was enlarged and reconsecrated by Pope Alexander III in 1163. The abbey was completely destroyed during the Revolution, but the church was spared.
Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower was built for the International Exhibition of Paris of 1889 commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution. The Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII of England, opened the tower. Of the 700 proposals submitted in a design competition, Gustave Eiffel's was unanimously chosen.
However it was not accepted by all at first, and a petition of 300 names - including those of Maupassant, Emile Zola, Charles Garnier (architect of the Op駻a Garnier), and Dumas the Younger - protested its construction.
At 300 metres (320.75m including antenna), and 7000 tons, it was the world's tallest building until 1930. Other statistics include:
2.5 million rivets.
300 steel workers, and 2 years (1887-1889) to construct it.
Sway of at most 12 cm in high winds.
Height varies up to 15 cm depending on temperature.
15,000 iron pieces (excluding rivets).
40 tons of paint.
1652 steps to the top.
Pont Saint-Michel
Pont Saint-Michel is a bridge linking the Place Saint-Michel on the left bank of the river Seine to the ホle de la Cit. It was named after the nearby chapel of Saint-Michel. It is near Sainte Chapelle and the Palais de Justice. The present 62-metre-long bridge dates to 1857. First constructed in 1378, it has been rebuilt several times, most recently in 1857. Yes, there are 'rain clouds' over Paris. But the photograph is extraordinarily bright and illustrative. The colour saturation enhances the mood of the photograph. The colour of the river Seine in the foreground and the heavy mass of blue clouds above are conjoined by the white houses glazed in the sunlight. This city extends its arm through the Eiffel Tower reaching the sky ... Great Composition and organisation. Thanks for the good photograph.

Hello Gyrgy.
There have been too many rain clouds in Sweden this summer, but watching them on photos is still a pleasure. Here they form a great contrast to the green water of the Seine and the shining roofs of the city. The Eiffel tower looks very nice against this dark blue background,
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello George,
A splendid view over the rooftops of Paris with the Eiffel Tower making a great focal point. Good use of the vertical format to encapsulate so much of the city in one shot. The cloudy sky contributes much to the atmosphere. Very well presented with excellent light, colours and sharpness. Have a great weekend!

Hi George,
amazing POV which allowed you to take this spectacular panorama. I lie the bridge in the foreground and the Eiffel tower emerging far in the distance.
Very difficult light conditions and I see you have struggled a bit with the processing but the final result is very pretty,

Hi George
Another of your speciality, grand skyline shot which I feel there are two elements that make this looks different; the dramatic sky and the green water. What a glorious result from this famous city with the light filtering through nicely and the veiwpoint leads the eye through the vast cityscape with the tower anchors the view there. Some exquisite work and your photo does it justice. Great capture, TFS
Best regards

Dear George
You have not said where you took this picture from! :-)
Fine roof top view of Paris dominated by the 2 towers & a dome. The diagonal disposition of the river looks good. Good clarity & depth in this shot!
Best Regards
Angshu
