Photographer's Note

This was an evening shot of the twin gates of Rothenburg. The photo is not tilted but the building in the middle is.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a town in the district of Ansbach of Mittelfranken (Middle Franconia), the Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany. It is well known for its well-preserved medieval old town, a destination for tourists from around the world. It is part of the popular Romantic Road through southern Germany.
Rothenburg was a Free Imperial City from the late Middle Ages to 1803.
On the left side is the Siebers-gate on the right the Kobolzeller-gate.
Photo was taken during a Christmas Markets tour in 2012.

A nicely exposed composition featuring this pleasing Christmassy scene. I like the animated atmosphere and the warm / cool tonal contrasts. Very good sharpness for an ISO of 3200.

Hi Asa,

The presence of the people and of the cars is animating the scene. The length of the street is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is hsowing the details and the colors of the towers and of the houses. Using an ISO of 3200 has a special effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Germany has a lot of these nice fairy tale villages, certainly in the evening or the night
Middle of the winter, but you took a very nice picture, your light and street view are pleasant to look at.
Nice depth and perspective picture.
Excellent composition, nice presentation, also pleasant of colours.

Fine view of classical Rothenburg, enhanced by the twilight and golden light highlights, with the cobblestone street, half-timber architecture, and the dominate gate tower.

I enjoyed visiting and staying several nights here a few years before this.

hello Asa, You show us the most iconic views from Bayern. Beautiful postcard from Rothenburg ob der Tauber. we see it was made around Christmas but in fact, Christmas is there all the year round in the shops. Nice evening shot.

"the Pllein", so this outlook is called in German, and it describes the small building in the middle (the tilted one); a real fascinating postcard motive at all, iｴve seen it with my own eyes several years before, but not in such a charming light!

Excellent viewpoint for showing those old gates on different levels. That old town looks fantastic and I'm sure it is especially romantic at christmas time with all those decorations. I like warm glow of those lights. A little later blue hour light would be even better I think.

Marvelous dusk scenery on the beautiful town, Asa.
Old architecture's is lit fabulousely, and from position taken we see the two towers which are very similar in style.
When we were there it was pouring rainy day, and we did not get this far side from the center. Almost not noticed the tilted house, only when reading the note.

The curving cobblestone road adds fantastic lead in lines. Nice warm cold colour contrasts between the blue grey and yellow colours. The people add scale and animate the scene. The arch through the bg building reminds me of the old 'rathaus' in Munich! Tfs!

great shot of this romatic medieval city. I like those decorated and lit half-timbered houses. I have been there only two times. Last visit is 38 years ago. I think I have to go there once again.

great time of the day. it seems they illuminate the town quite early and you have well used this opportunity here. Nice perspective showing two gates on two different levels it works quite surprising when one think about it.
I had a pleasure to visit this wonderful town long time ago. It seems to be one of the best preserved medieval towns in Europe. And the Christmas shop is open there all year round :)

Good point of view for both gates. Both streets angle nicely from here to direct us around the scene. I love all the buildings that all seem to tilt and their own angles, including the two towers. It has a cartoonish feel of an idyllic old village scene. I wonder how the scene would look if you were in the center, along the railing, if the split would look stronger. Although the way the two roads converge from this point creates a strong feeling of two different places mashed together, which I like.

although I was born in Germany and lived there for many years, I never went to Rothenburg. Meanwhile, I've seen a lot of pictures of it and often I heard from other people that it is very beautiful there.
